Coronavirus Updates

March 29, 2020

7:00pm

As we’ve learned more about the current situation regarding COVID-19 in our state, we’ve kept the health and safety of our guests, team members, and community as a top priority. Following Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy Order and Lummi Nation’s Shelter in Place, Silver Reef Casino Resort and Lummi Nation have determined that, following careful thought and consideration, it is in the best interest of all to extend our temporary suspension of operations.

While the situation continues to evolve daily, we will continue to monitor and follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC, State, Tribal, and local public health officials as we work to determine a firm reopening date.

Our focus at this time is ensuring that our team members remain safe, healthy, and supported. To that directive, we will continue to provide full pay and benefits to Silver Reef team members through April 5th, 2020.

As mentioned in our previous update, we will extend your free play and birthday offers through the month the April. We will also be reintroducing our March bedding giveaway at a later date.

We encourage all of our guests, team members, and members of our community to continue to follow best practices for virus prevention. Continue to stay home, practice social distancing, and wash your hands frequently.

These times are both incredibly challenging and unprecedented for everyone. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncharted times. We look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right. We encourage our guests to follow us on Facebook and to visit our website for any updates.

We encourage you to stay home and stay healthy and hope that you are well,

Sincerely,

Your friends at Silver Reef

With careful thought and consideration, the Lummi Nation and Silver Reef Casino Resort have made the decision to suspend operations at the Silver Reef Casino Resort for two weeks beginning Tuesday night March 17th at 11:59pm. The global growth of this pandemic is unprecedented and the health and safety of our guests and Team Members are always at the forefront of our conversations.

Silver Reef Casino will use this time for deep cleaning while looking forward to potentially opening on April 1st at 8:00am. Once open, we will continue to adhere to our stringent cleaning standard and be vigilant in our disinfection efforts.

To our guests, we will extend your free play and birthday offers through the month the April. We will also be reintroducing our bedding giveaway at a later date. We look forward to welcoming our guests back when the time is right. We encourage our guests to follow us on Facebook and to visit our website for any updates.

While we wanted to remain open for business to continue serving our guests and allowing our team members to earn a living, the circumstances have now changed. We believe a temporary closure is the right thing to do. The Tribe understands the impact this closure will have on our team members, their families, and the community. Silver Reef will continue to pay all Team Members for the two weeks that we are closed while understanding the financial impact of this decision.

We have always moved with the purpose of what is best for our team members and the community. We look forward to resuming operations and being your premier dining, gaming and entertainment destination.

Since the arrival of the Coronavirus in Washington, Silver Reef Casino Resort has been working on a response protocol in the event of a confirmed case on our property. Today we were notified by local health authorities of a potential exposure by a guest who dined at Silver Reef on Tuesday. The guest’s visit was limited to only The Buffet early Tuesday afternoon. Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed The Buffet and notified potentially effected staff that may have had contact with the guest.

Our coordinated response with Public Health officials includes closing the venue for an enhanced disinfecting, quarantining and monitoring of exposed staff. The risk of exposure to the public is very low. Per the health department “We know that COVID-19 is most likely to be transmitted to close contacts of a person with COVID-19. This is when people have been with someone with COVID-19 for at least 10 minutes within 6 feet of that person or had contact with any secretions through being coughed on or in direct physical contact. People who did not have close contact with this individual have no greater risk of infection than the general public.”

All tables and seats are disinfected once a guest leaves. Serving utensils are changed out frequently and countertops and other hard surfaces wiped down and disinfected regularly during normal operations. Silver Reef has always adhered to a stringent cleaning standard for the entire resort. We utilize disinfectants and state of the art technology that eliminates 99.9% of viruses. Our sanitization standards are the highest priority for the health of our team members, our guests, and our community.

Being one of the largest employers in Whatcom County, Silver Reef realizes the need to continue doing business is vital. To date, we have been fortunate not to have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongst our Team Members. Silver Reef continues to implement cleanliness protocols such as:

• Extra and thorough cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, including Slot machines, chair backs, door handles, and keypads.

• The addition of extra hand sanitizer stations throughout the casino floor.

• The availability of personal-size sanitizer bottles and wipes for our guests. Reef Reward members may redeem one daily.

Sincerely,

Your Silver Reef Team

We are suspending all entertainment in our portage bay lounge out of an abundance of caution as we believe “social distancing” – staying six feet away, or at least an arm’s length, from each other would be very difficult with live entertainment. Our goal is the safety of our guests and team members. As a reminder we have implemented:

• Extra and thorough cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, including Slot machines, chair backs, door handles, and keypads.

• The addition of extra hand sanitizer stations throughout the casino floor.

• The availability of personal-size bottles and wipes for our guests. Reef Reward members may redeem one daily.

With the emergence of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 and focused media attention, we wanted to share with you the steps we have taken to address this virus as well as others. Prior to the media attention, Silver Reef has adhered to a stringent cleaning standard for the entire resort. Silver Reef utilizes disinfectants and state of the art technology that can eliminate 99.9% of viruses.

Although the Centers for Disease Control states, “the risk to the general public is low” and there are no known cases in Whatcom County, we continue to focus on cleanliness at our resort to minimize the risk to our Team Members and guests. We have increased the number of disinfecting stations throughout the resort and are utilizing additional staff to clean and disinfect public areas. We will continue to monitor for best practices from the CDC and instruct Team Members to follow established protocols to prevent the spread of viruses. Silver Reef encourages staff and guests alike who may not be feeling well to follow CDC best practices and stay home.

In addition to the above-noted actions, we are distributing sanitizing products to our Reef Reward Members. These products meet the FDA standards and provide another level of comfort to our guests. Guests will be allowed one item per day while supplies last.

We will continue to be vigilant in our disinfection efforts and keep working with Tribal, local, state and national agencies on best practices during this outbreak. As always, the health of our team members and guests is our greatest priority.

Sincerely,

Your Silver Reef Team
